Tales DAO
This page lays the foundation for the Tales & Conquest DAO
Tales & Conquest is designed to evolve from a project steered by the company Gnome Labs into a fully community-governed game under a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO). The central philosophy is to ensure that meaningful participation, transparent decision-making, and balanced governance remain core principles throughout the transition.
To accomplish this formation, Tales & Conquest will implement a phased approach to decentralization. Each phase outlines specific goals, governance structures, and responsibilities that will progressively shift from Gnome Labs to the $TALES community.
Phase 1: Foundation (Year 1)
During the first year, Gnome Labs will act as the primary steward of the game, token, and overall community. This phase focuses on establishing the initial framework for community governance. The Tales & Conquest token ($TALES) will be introduced as the core utility and governance token, enabling the DAO to begin shaping the game’s direction.
Gnome Labs will launch an initial DAO voting portal, allowing community members to submit and vote on foundational proposals. These proposals may address the DAO’s structure, potential working groups, and other organizational roles the community believes are necessary. Although Gnome Labs retains ultimate decision-making authority at this stage, it will actively solicit feedback from DAO participants to refine and ratify this early framework. By the end of the first year, the foundation of the DAO will be in place, with clearly defined voting procedures and roles for community engagement.
Phase 2: Transition and Collaboration (Years 2-3)
Following the establishment of the DAO framework, Tales & Conquest will enter a transition period where the community’s influence on project direction grows significantly. The DAO will propose, debate, and vote on matters such as game features, economic adjustments, partnerships, and marketing strategies. Gnome Labs will begin to share decision-making authority with the DAO, ensuring that each voice in the community has the opportunity to shape the game’s evolution.
If disagreements arise between the DAO majority and Gnome Labs, an open forum will be held for both sides to present their rationale and concerns. This forum will foster transparency and debate, allowing community members to make informed decisions. A subsequent re-vote may be conducted if necessary, and the outcome will guide final action. Over this two-year period, control and responsibility will steadily shift toward the DAO, creating a governance model where both community input and Gnome Labs’ expertise guide the project’s trajectory.
Phase 3: Full DAO Control (Beyond Year 3)
Once the initial foundation has been laid and the transition period concludes, Tales & Conquest will move to a fully decentralized governance model. At this point, the DAO will assume primary responsibility for all major game-related and strategic decisions. This includes managing treasury allocations, approving development roadmaps, and overseeing partnerships with third parties.
Although Gnome Labs will no longer act as the ultimate decision-maker, it can still be contracted for ongoing development services, should the DAO choose. Alternatively, the DAO may elect to engage other software studios or independent developers to further expand or enhance the Tales & Conquest mission. This final phase ensures that the community holds full control over the game’s destiny, driving innovation and sustainability through a network of motivated stakeholders who possess both ownership and agency.
Key DAO Voting Rules & Proposal Scope
To maintain an effective and structured governance system, all DAO votes are subject to a strict approval threshold of 80%. Any proposal that does not reach at least 80% approval from voting participants will be considered unsuccessful and will not be enacted. This high threshold ensures that only decisions with overwhelming community support are implemented, fostering long-term stability and alignment with the project's vision.
In addition to this voting requirement, proposals must fall within a clearly defined scope to be eligible for submission and voting. The DAO may only deliberate on proposals related to the following five categories: (1) game features and mechanics, (2) ecosystem projects that support $TALES, (3) governance and DAO operations, (4) lore and story decisions, and (5) game rules adjustments. Proposals that do not align with these categories will not be considered for a vote. It is at the discretion of designated DAO representatives to assess whether a proposal fits within these criteria before it moves forward in the governance process.
By implementing these structured voting rules and proposal limitations, Tales & Conquest ensures that governance remains focused, efficient, and aligned with the long-term interests of the community. These guidelines establish a framework for meaningful participation while preventing governance inefficiencies that could arise from unrestricted or unfocused proposals.
Final Summary
The progressive decentralization of Tales & Conquest is designed to balance the technical and creative oversight of Gnome Labs with the collective vision of the community. By starting with clear stewardship in Phase 1, steadily introducing collaborative governance in Phase 2, and ultimately handing over full authority to the DAO in Phase 3, Tales & Conquest aspires to build a lasting and inclusive ecosystem. This approach empowers everyone involved to shape the game’s future, cementing Tales & Conquest as a fully decentralized and community-driven initiative.
